So it was back here again. Avdima wondered how long it had been since his last visit to the Retreat, it must have been well over twenty years. Once upon a time he would come here quite often, but lately he had been preocupied by other tasks, mainly his newfound job. Yet everyone needs a break once in a while. So here he came to breath the fresh mountain air once more.
The ground crunched loudly beneath his feet. He could easily have made it quieter, but he did not want to. The sound was rhythmic, relaxing.
He glanced up the path ahead to the building that jutted out of the mountain halfway up. The main building of the Retreat. There were many other places over the valley that belonged to the retreat, but this was the one that people usually came to first. It was a rule that people had to make their presence known, it was the only way that peace could be ensured in this minute section of the world. People usually respected the Retreat's strict non-violence rule (except for training) just as they understood its sacredness.
That was why Avdima came here, it was the only place he could truly allow himself to refresh. The only drawback was that he had to remain in his human form here, but it was a sacrifice he was willing to make.

The school had been in ruins for days. The battle went on. Doreen stood at the top of the tower and looked out upon the grounds of the school. She noticed a student had been injured with dark magic. Another ran to help but was destroyed in the process. Madame Klixon of Spells was caught in a majour seige with a fat woman with long black hair and man with a big head.
Doreen had to get down there and help. She fled the tower and ran down the stairs towards the 5th Floor. As she reached the bottom she heard a loud Squeel from theroom opposite. She glanced over thinking "Should i help or not?". She stood frozen for a while before the door swung open revealing an old woman running out followed by a bright red light. The woman was no more than the History of Spells teacher. She ran out and immediatly forced her way down the corridor.
Before she knew it Doreen wa in a conflict with the one woman she never thought she would fight. Maddame Grettle the headmistress of Spellbindings.
Madame Grettle opened her arms widley and fired a bright red light towards Doreen. Doreen stopped it with her sheild spell. Madame Grettle and Doreen both fired a spell at the same time. The only problem was they cllided in the middle. The two women held tightly. "Madame Grettle, why are you doing this?" "All for the greater good my dear" Madame Grettle Responded "Why though, I am not evil i am good, My teahcers are training my students in good magic." After hearing this Madame Grettle lowered her hands but before Doreen realised the spell hit Madame Grettle in the chest killing her instantly.
The battle lasted another three hours after which Doreen felt awful and had to get away. So she fled in a whirlwind of green smoke to the Retreat where she had been brought up as a child.
The retreat hadn't changed much. The only difference was a new built tower attached to the Medical Bay. Doreen broke down and collapsed onto the nearest bench and began to cry.

Avdima tore his eyes away from the majestic building ahead as his ears detected a faint sobbing sound. He slowly allowed his head to drift around, letting his eyes pass gently over the landscape in search of the one who was crying.
Eventually he spotted the source, not too far away from him either. He knew it was probably none of his business to go up to her. It would most likely be in his best entrance to walk right past her and focus on his true reason for being here. Yet how could he just waltz past someone who was obviously in distress? Making up his mind, Avdima cautiously approached her, not too quietly so as not too startle her, but not too loudly either so as not to unnerve her.
When he reached the bench he made as if to sit in the empty space beside her, but instead he simply stretched his arm out to lean against the back.
"Would it be incredibly intrusive of me to enquire as to what is upsetting you maam?" He asked in a soft, concerned tone.

Doreen Jerked forewards and replied "Well it's too complicated i am sure you will not have time to listen to it."
With this said she turned away from the Man and looked up at the Stars Shining overhead and the moon glistening as bright as a street lamp. Doreen said in an uneasy tone "May i be told of what you are?"

He smiled lightly.
"I have all the time in the world, but if you'd rather not tell me I shall respect your privacy."
He frowned slightly at her question, trying to think of a suitable answer. She was a human, he could tell that, but by the nature of her question, 'what' instead of 'who', he was also sure that she must be familiar with things above the norm.
"I'm... complicated." He realised how cryptic the words sounded the second they were out of his mouth, but there was nothing better he could say without going into detail. That was something he definitely did not want to do. Just like his aversion to the human term for those like him, it was so derogatory, he would never stoop to using it.

Dawn was creeping upon them. The cold wind calmed down a bit. Doreen had fallen into a long conversation with the Man about her reason for arriving at the retreat. Shre was convinced that the guy must have thought she was wicked. "You must think i am really evil but i'm not, i only did what i had to by accident if she hadnt started i wouldn't need to fight back it was all so fast."

He paused for a while, considering her story.
"I do not judge you for it. Many of us have done things we are not proud of," Avdima included himself in that generalisation as his mind drifted back to over a century and a half ago, to before he met Lana. He had hardly been a good rolemodel for those who wished for peace... He quickly shook his head in an attempt to fling such thoughts from his mind, they would only cause guilt and pain, especially when they turned towards his son...

Doreen began giving a full description of what had happened that night.
"Well i was giving a speach to the Pupils about the greater good and then before i knew it......."
Doreen made it easier for the man to understand by waving her arms and causing the retreat to disapear into a flashback of the school.
They arrived in a Large room with chairs in rows of ten on either side of the hall. The students where sitting on them in their multi couloured uniforms. Green for first years, Red for second years, Yellw for 3rd Years and Blue for 4th Years. The teachers were sitting on chairs down the sides. Doreen recognised one as Madame Codaityhme the professor of Encantments and Curses. Sitting opposite was a tall skinny man with short gey hair and round blue rimmed glasses and a long black robe. This was Sir Grevington De Himolton, the Potions teacher.
The flashback moved immdiatly from this hall to a dark candlelit corridor. it was totally abanondend apart from two figures talking. One was Madame Codaithyme and the other Doreen recognised as herself. They were having a conversation about school safety when a loud bang occured down below followed by a loud scream. The teachers immediatly began running down the stairs.
Before they could reach eeing what came next the flashback was interupted by a fash of Purple flying over head.
Doreen stood up knowing perfectly well that they had found her "I have to stop this, they have found me again, I am sorry sir i must go at once" With this said Doreen began to leave

"Wait!" He called, "You would be safer to remain here, no one can harm you in the retreat!" He rushed after her, reaching a hand out to lightly catch her shoulder in a move to halt her. Yet he drew his hand back rapidly at the last moment. He did not want to risk blistering the woman's shoulder or turning it into an ice block which he was likely to do if he was not completely aware of every molecule in his skin. It was better just to have no contact.

Doreen turned roundand replied "I know you mean well but the retreat isnt safe anymore they are here they found me. I am sorry but i have tio fight this battle alone i am not having anymore injured. With this said she rushed round the corner of the ower and disapeared out of sight.

Avdima growled slightly out of irritation. He would just have to follow her then. Quickly he strode after her, though not nearly as loud as last time. His footsteps were almost silent - the sort of stealth that could only be acquired after years of practice. He had no worry for himself, he was quite hard to break, in more ways than one.

Doreen realised she was being followed but ignored the fact and carried on running towards where the Lights were coing from. As she reached the edge of the wall she turned to see three of the Witches that where fighting at the school and two of the male ones. She saw the people fighting them where the guards of the retreat. She noticed one lyng injured on the floor and teleorted herself over to him.

Avdima glanced at the scene in front of him, feeling slightly downhearted. This place had been the one place that could stop his head from buzzing, yet even the Retreat seemed to have been affected by the ferociousness of the outside world. Even if he had not already decided his part in this, he could not let those who were bringing chaos into the sanctuary go unpunished. Swiftly he raced ahead to reach the fight.

Doreen was just about to teleport herself and the body of the Guard back to the school. But she saw the man run ot into the fight and she sat frozen over the body wondering whether to help him or take the guard to sfety and getbackup. Doreen was stuck on the desicion.

It was not long before Avdima reached them, he was unsure as to whether they would listen to him, but he had to try.
"Do you not understand what the Retreat is? Why must you bring violence into such a sanctuary?" He shouted at the intruders. Out of the corner of his eye he glanced at the woman he had followed, it was a casual look, one to tell her that he could take care of this.
